Want To Work From Home? Here Are Websites For Finding Freelance Jobs

So, you want to earn extra while at home. These are some platforms that you could use to start freelancing!

If you are a full time house wife or a husband with children whilst balancing everything in between, I must say it is one tough job (but fulfilling!). There would come a time that you will think of having a job. Because as we all now, having a family is quite difficult in terms of finances (but fulfilling, again!). We wanted to give our very best to the family and sometimes giving them this very best requires financial stability.

So I am here to share with you some platforms that can help you make money while you are still at home, taking care of the baby and making dinner for hubby or waiting for wife to arrive.

I am talking about the online jobs or home-based jobs. Home-based jobs are basically working where your primary office is your home. So one of the advantages of this is, you do not have to go actually outside the house to go to work. No traffic jams, no uniforms, too much grooming of yourself, no lates (unless you totally forgot your working hours but some are offering flexible time).

Make your tools ready! The basic tools you need to have are the ff:

Email Account

Basically to have an account on some platforms you need to have an email address. This is also where the employers will contact and connect with you. This is your primary source of connection.

Visual CV

This is an online resume that includes all the facets of a traditional resume, with add-ons like video, images, and links to your accomplishments. If you are applying for graphic or multimedia artist might as well include your portfolio.

Desktop or PC / Laptop

Specification requirements may vary according to the job you are applying for.  But according to my research some minimum requirements for computers often are:

  • 1Ghz-2Ghz processor

  • Windows operating system

  • 1GB of RAM

  • Sound card, speakers

  • 15-17″ monitor

  • Virus and spyware protection software and a working firewall.

  • Software programs that may be required include Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word and Excel), and/or Adobe Acrobat reader

  • headphones and microphone.

Again, as I say, the requirements vary according to the job. Some jobs require larger processor or video cards and certain applications like for graphic designing and video editing (the employers will provide you the list).

Stable Internet Connection

The minimum required internet speed is 3mbps. Some companies require more than that. It is also suggested that your internet runs in DSL thru cable, not on wifi. Some professionals also suggest having a back up broadband connection just in case your primary internet provider jammed up.

Usually, employers will ask you to send them your internet speed test result with your computer specification.

Skype Account / IM account

Employers often use Skype to make interviews and also as a mean of communicating with you in case you landed on the job.

Working Space

This does not necessarily a big office where you can place your computer with chairs and everything (but that would be an awesome place to work in). This is what I like about the home-based job. Anywhere in the house can be your office. It could be a small corner of your house where your laptop or desktop is located. Some employers require a quiet working station especially if you are a telemarketer or anything that requires talking with clients on phone. But I must say that a nice working area is one great factor of working efficiently.

Paypal / Bank Account / Remittance Services Account

If you landed on the job this is where you are going to get paid. Employers can pay you through wire transfer, bank transfer, remittances services, through PayPal account and so on. You can get your salary depending on what you and your employer have agreed upon. But normally you will get paid either bi monthly or monthly.

Your Skills

It is not necessary that you are a pro to land a job. There are jobs that require minimal skills such as keen on details, knows how to use the Microsoft office and etc. What is important is that you have the drive to learn and grow to your full potential.  Plus, most of the employers give the training first to teach you and make you familiarize with the work load. I also suggest that get a job that you are passionate about. Like if you are more of the creative side, might as well get a job that fits you, for example, graphic artist.

So there you go!

Now let me share with you some platforms where you can start your freelancing job hunting!

Do not forget to do research first for legitimacy. I hope this is helpful for you.
